Ferndown Will Not Forget

Our little town was selected to host the 2016 "Dorset Poppy Appeal Launch" last weekend. Volunteers pinned large poppies all over the precinct, and many shops put up special displays. The Co-op Funeral Service had a model cenotaph, the vets incorporated a War Horse Silhouette, and the Travel Agents had a whole display of posters advertising Battlefield Tours and trips to the French War Graves. Many people turned out last Saturday [that little Home Guard van was back again] There has been so much turmoil this week all around the world - it is good to step to one side, quietly, and remember those who fought for the freedom that we enjoy, and to pray that there may be peace on earth.

The Lord will judge between many peoples
and will settle disputes for strong nations far and wide.
They will beat their swords into ploughshares
and their spears into pruning hooks.
Nation will not take up sword against nation,
nor will they train for war anymore.
Everyone will sit under their own vine
and under their own fig tree,
and no one will make them afraid,
for the Lord Almighty has spoken.
